Thank you for filling me in on what’s been happening with one of our students. Here’s my initial thought about how we can handle this situation:
We’ll definitely talk about this next week when I’m at Maple Village. Thank you for your patience.
I continually receive feedback from my students about how much they are enjoying their experience at Maple Village!

Hi Participant:
Wanted to follow up with you regarding the incident yesterday with the nursing assistant and nursing student. The nursing assistant asked me if she could have more guidance in handling such situations in the future. I know she found it really hard to tell the nursing student she was not using proper infection control technique when caring for the resident. I expect it would be hard for a nursing student to do the same if a student observed a staff member not using proper infection control procedures. When you are here next week with the students, let’s strategize about how we could help our staff and students when situations like this come up.
Best, Sandra
Even when faculty and the nursing home staff have
established good partnerships, issues will inevitably arise
when students are in the nursing home for clinical learning.
Faculty and nursing home staff must engage in collaborative
problem solving for these issues.
